"How ridiculous I was when I was a puppet and how glad I am that I have become a well behaved little boy."
So ends the book of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. Gepetto, an old puppet maker dearly would love a son. He makes a puppet from a magical piece of wood and Pinocchio is born. But he has no conscience and no heart. His journey of discovery brings him into contact with many colorful characters, Mr Fire-Eater, Mr Fox, Mr Cat, Sea Monster, Fairies and, of course, his brothers and sisters -The Puppets.
The original story by Collodi is not a pleasant one. Walt Disney found this out and made many changes for his film. The performance you will see today is our adaptation of the story — the story of Pinocchio the puppet who after many adventures becomes a boy. Every child will recognise himself in Pinocchio from his earlier attempts at living, and walking, through his troubles, to the end.
The action takes place in and around Gepetto's home somewhere in Hong Kong.
