Spring Fever Hotel - A Programme of the 15th Hong Kong Arts Festival
P198687-21
Description

A dominated husband and a neglected wife (neither married to the other!) secretly escape together from the bourgeois respectability of Hong Kong in the late 1920's.

An old and disreputable hotel in Macau awaits them — with its shabby furnishing, broken drains and noisy ghosts. As darkness descends, the romantic excursion turns into a nightmare of misunderstanding. Lost keys, wrong rooms, unexpected friends — all contribute to the frustration of the intended lovers. Chairs break, doors slam, bells ring - finally the police arrive!

Back in Hong Kong, the chaos is untangled. Innocence has prevailed, social order is re-established, and 'naughtiness' becomes a never-realized hope as husband and wife return to their respective and respectable marriage partners.
