The Royal Hunt Of The Sun
P198384-20
Description
In March 1984 the Urban Council and New Territories Services Department will present Chung Ying Theatre Company and City Contemporary Dance Company in the Cantonese premier of Peter Shaffer's modern classic about the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire of South America "The Royal Hunt of the Sun". This production, first performed by The National Theatre of Great Britain in 1964, lends itself to the differing skills of the two companies with a magical blend of words, dance and music. It tells the story of Francisco Pizarro who led a small band of Spanish Soldiers through the jungles and over the mountains of South America in the search for the fabled golden cities of the Inca Empire; of the slaughter of the unarmed Peruvian Indians; of the meeting with the man-god Atahuallpa - his imprisonment, ransom and eventual death.
