Description

Glen Walford is the first Artistic Director of Chung Ying during 1979 to 1982. She also directed Romeo and Juliet in Cantonese for the Hong Kong Repertory in 1980. She led Chung Ying to Malaysia for Animal Farm touring in 1881.

Glen graduated from Bristol University and obtained a Diploma in Education from Liverpool University. Her theatre experience includes directing and acting at many regional British theatres: - The Traverse, Edinburgh; The Playhouse, Sheffield; The Crucible, Sheffield; the Belgrade, Coventry; The Playhouse, Nottingham and the Everyman, Liverpool. In London Glen has worked as Director at the Albany Empire, the Greenwich Theatre, The Almost Free, the Bush Theatre and the Royal Court and played a leading role at the Aldwych Theatre for the Royal Shakespeare Company.Glen was also a founder member of Theatre Vanguard- a self-contained company attached to the Sheffield Playhouse - and later become the Company's Director.

In 1972 Glen founded the Bubble Theatre - the only Company in England to possess its own fully mobile portable theatre. This theatre tours the parks and open spaces in London performing popular versions of the classics and new plays with strong emphasis on music and comedy.She was also Artistic Director of Bubble until she left to come to Hong Kong.

Glen has served on the Drama Panels of the Greater London Arts Association and the Arts Council of Great Britain.
